Chakotay and Janeway are bitten by an insect and must stay on a beautiful planet in order to avoide the deadly effects of the contracted virus. When the doctor fails to create an antidote, they send Voyager on its way and begin a new life together. As Kate Mulgrew states "I would like to see the Janeway-Chakotay relationship develop further, mush further".

Seska sends a message to Chakotay. She has given birth to their son. He is fine and healthy but he is in danger. The Kazon have threatened to take him away to raise him as a slave. Or is it a Kazon trap to seize the Federation ship?

Janeway and her crew, stranded ona volcanic earth-like planet, are making plans for survival in their new hostile environment. Hindering the search for food and water are a primititve humanoid race and stange terrifying beasts. Meanwhile, the U.S.S. Voyager is in the hands of the treacherous Seska and the KAzon-Nistrim.

Flashback

In this tribute to Star Trek's thirtieth anniversary. Tuvok repeatedly suffers a frightening hallucination. when the doctor cannot help the Vulcan. Janeway volunteers to participate in a hazardous mind meld. The expereince takes them eighty years into the past, to the time of Captain Hikaru Sulu and the U.S.S Excelsior.

In the continuing battle against the immensely powerful Species 8472, the uneasy alliance between Voyager and the Borg is strained when Janeway is critically injured and Chakotay must deal with a Borg hive aboard Voyager, whose drones have orders to assimilate the Starfleet vessel.

While the unprecedented increase in Kes' telepathic powers threatens to tear Voyager apart, freed Borg Seven of Nine must come to terms with her violent seperation from the Borg collective, a process which could seriously injure both her and Janeway.
